Reaching Your Goals With the Atkins Diet

Monday, January 18th, 2010

The Atkins Diet has long been recognized as one of the most popular diet plans, and has enjoyed unprecedented popularity not once, but twice in the last 50 years.  With it’s renewed surge of popularity, Atkins is firmly entrenched among top diet plans as a viable means to managing weight loss with minimal discomfort and deprivation.   Based upon the science that our bodies contain their own means of tapping into fat stores called ketosis, which happens by limiting carbohydrates, many have enjoyed this diet and have reaped the benefits of improved energy, clarity, and minimal hunger because of stable blood sugar levels.  Think about what body fat really is — it’s excess carbohydrates stored as potential fuel for later usage.  As we continue to overeat, the excess carbohydrates are stored without being utilized.

As far as diet plans go, Atkins is here to stay because it has revolutionized so many people’s lives.  It continues to have a large, loyal following.  For those who had a sensitivity to carbohydrate consumption for many years and piled on the fat, Atkins has provided freedom!

Atkins Diet — Is It Right For You?

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

The Atkins Diet has been around for decades as an effective alternative to healthy eating.  Based upon research known about how our metabolism works, our body has it’s own fat-burning mechanism called ketosis.  We enter ketosis when we limit the number of carbohydrates we consume.  When the body has an ample supply of carbohydrates, it burns them for fuel.  If we consume too many carbs, our bodies cannot burn them all, so the excess is stored as body fat for later usage.  That’s where the Atkins Diet comes into play!  As the diet restricts carbohydrates consumed, the body is forced to tap into those fat stores and burn them as fuel.  Additionally, hunger is not an issue on this diet as ketosis effectively suppresses hunger while the protein and fat in the diet keeps you feeling full longer.

As far as diet plans go, Atkins is an effective plan with many meal options and snacks available, whether you wish to cook yourself or purchase pre-packaged meals and meal replacements.
