Developing the Right Mindset for Weight Loss
Wednesday, April 14th, 2010If you have attempted to lose weight a few times, you realize that weight loss doesn’t just happen in a vacuum. In other words, a lot of the pieces of the weight loss puzzle simply have to fit together in order for the pounds to come off and stay off. Simply put, the right mindset and mental preparation must be in place before anything else will work. You can have a great diet plan, but if you don’t stick to it, you won’t succeed. You can know the importance of physical activity, but if you don’t “just do it,” that resource remains untapped. Developing good habits is hard to do because it means that bad habits must be overcome. Is willpower the answer? Not always. Often it is a multi-faceted approach that may use will power as one of the minor pieces, but ultimately is all about loving yourself and caring for yourself. Sometimes we need to deal with some emotional baggage before we can actually pull it all together. That’s okay — we all need somebody to lean on.
